The Research Data Symposium, proudly hosted by Columbia University Libraries/Information Services, Columbia's Institute for Data Sciences and Engineering, Columbia’s Libraries/Information Services’ Center for Digital Research and Scholarship (CDRS) and Elsevier, is an event being held to lead discussion on topics related to managing and curating research data and a variety of other research outputs. The Symposium will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

The Symposium will feature speaker panels addressing the different stages of the research data life cycle, with representatives from Columbia faculty, learned societies, research institutions, funders, and publishers coming together to examine the implementation stages, available technologies and associated challenges and barriers for managing, preserving and accessing research data. Attendees will leave armed with valuable information to engage their respective organizational stakeholders to initiate and continue long-term research and data management efforts.
In addition to the panels, the Symposium will feature poster presentations addressing any or all aspects of the data life-cycle.
